Attach the RCA connection on the adapter cable to an available input on your home stereo's amplifier or receiver.
Change the input setting on your stereo receiver or amplifier to the input you used when you connected the adapter. You can generally change the input by pressing the "Input" button on the stereo receiver's remote control or the "Input" button on the front of your stereo receiver.
Adjust the volume on your iPod to less than half.
Many people choose to listen to their iPods with headphones or through an iPod docking station. However, you can also connect the portable music player to an available RCA input on your home stereo and listen to music stored on the iPod through your home stereo's speakers. This is an option if you don't want to purchase an iPod docking station with a speaker or use headphones. Once you connect the iPod to the stereo, you can control the volume of the sound through the stereo's controls.
