Empty an iPod Nano

Empty an iPod Nano - Plug the iPod Nano into the computer. It needs to be charged. If it's not, let it charge.

Open iTunes. Depending on your preferences, it may open when the computer reads the iPod.
Click on your iPod on the right-hand toolbar.

Uncheck the box to stop automatic syncing.

Click "Restore." Choose the option in the next screen to set the iPod up as a new one.

Setting up an iPod Nano as a new iPod is the quickest and easiest way to clear it. Do this through the restore process. Restoring the iPod removes all the data you uploaded, according to the user manual. It doesn't include the files Apple includes by default. Restoring the Nano takes several minutes. The information is put back in the iPod if you sync it after restoration. The restoration process is the same for all Nanos, regardless of release date or style.
