Fix a Frozen iPod Nano 4th Generation

Fix a Frozen iPod Nano 4th Generation - Toggle the hold switch by switching it back and forth a few times. The hold switch is an oblong button located on top of the iPod's Nano's screen. Switching it on and off a few times often can unfreeze an iPod.

Reboot the iPod by holding down the "Select" and "Menu" buttons simultaneously for a full 10 seconds. On the 4th Generation Nano, the "Menu" button is located directly above the "Select" button in the center of the scroll wheel. The iPod display will go dark. After a few seconds the Apple logo will appear on the screen. Eventually, after several more seconds, the iPod should fully reboot to its main display.
Connect the iPod to your computer via your iPod's USB cable. This will force the iPod into sync mode and will often unfreeze an iPod that has frozen.

A 4th Generation iPod Nano or other personal audio device can sometimes freeze in the same way that computers do. Just as with a computer, the best remedy is to reboot the iPod. Try rebooting before you spend money on a new iPod or on having your iPod serviced.
