Get Free WiFi on an IPod - Look at the menu bar at the top of the iPod Touch. When Wi-Fi is activated, the Wi-Fi icon will display, with the number of bars indicating current signal strength. See if there is an airplane icon, which indicates Airplane Mode is activated.

Tap "Settings" on the iPod Touch's home screen, and then tap the "On/Off" switch next to "Airplane Mode" to "Off." You cannot use Wi-Fi when the iPod is in Airport Mode.

Identify them by looking for a sign indicating free Wi-Fi for customers at the door or inside. Apple Stores, where you can buy computers, iPhones, iPods and other devices also offer free Wi-Fi that you can use. Your local shopping mall may also provide free Wi-Fi to all visitors.



Tap the App Store icon on the iPod Touch's home screen to access Apple's iTunes Store when you are connected to the Internet. Tap "Search," and then tap the search bar. Type "Free Wi-Fi," and then tap "Search." Tap one of the free apps for finding free Wi-Fi to read more about it, such as Free Wi-Fi, Free Wi-Fi Finder or Offline Wi-Fi Finder Free. Tap "Free," and then tap "Install" to download and install the app directly to your iPod Touch. Type your Apple ID at the prompt. You can also search for free Wi-Fi apps using Apple's free iTunes application at apple.com, download them to your computer and then transfer them to the iPod Touch over the included USB cable.
