Reset an IPod Nano 8G

Reset an IPod Nano 8G - Assess your iPod Nano 8G to see if it's truly frozen. If your iPod Nano 8G isn't locked (in the "Hold" position), attempting normal operations without responsive activity is an indicator that your iPod will need a reset to become operational again.

Toggle the "Hold" switch on and off in a rapid, fluid movement.
Firmly apply pressure to the "Center" (Select) button while concurrently pressing "Menu" on your iPod Nano 8G Click Wheel until the Apple logo flashes on the screen. This may take 6 to 10 seconds.

Viewing a flashing Apple logo indicates a successful reset. The iPod Nano 8G should now be responsive and capable of being played, powered up or viewable as a source in iTunes.

Attempt the previous steps if the iPod is still frozen. Connect your iPod into a dock or power adapter directly attached to an electrical outlet if you aren't seeing a flashing Apple logo.

Realizing that your iPod has frozen can initially put a dent in your plans, whether you were planning on cleaning to the tune of your favorite songs or planning a workout with a perfect playlist. Luckily enough, the iPod Nano 8G is incredibly resilient, and bringing it back to life doesn't take a potentially time-consuming trip to the Apple Store's Genius Bar. You can resurrect your iPod Nano 8G (or just about any model) in just moments with your own two hands.
