Select the desired maximum volume limit by using the Click Wheel to increase or decrease the volume bar. Then press the "Center" button on your iPod.
Choose "Lock" to require an unlock code when adjusting the maximum volume setting in the future, or choose "Done" to continue without setting a lock. To set a lock, use the Click Wheel to choose a number, and then press the "Center" button to select that number. Repeat the process to program the rest of the lock code.
Choose "Settings" on your iPod's main menu, and then choose "Playback." Set the "Sound Check" setting to "On."
The fifth-generation iPod nano allows you to adjust playback volume by using the Click Wheel located on the front of the device. Playback volume, however, is not the only iPod volume setting you can adjust. You also can set the maximum volume level you want your iPod nano to play your media files. In addition, you can configure iTunes and your iPod to play all songs at the same volume level to avoid having to adjust the volume constantly as you listen to music.
