Click into the box next to “File” on the Media-Convert screen. Navigate to the RealPlayer audio file that you would like to load onto your iPod in the “File Upload” window that comes up and double-click on the file name to open it.
Make sure the Media-Convert system selected the correct file type in the “Input format” box. The proper selection for a RealPlayer music file is “RealAudio (.ra,.rm).”
Select the “MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer 3 (.mp3)” option from the drop-down list in the box next to “Output format.” The “MPEG-4 advanced audio coding (.m4a)” option is also an iPod-compatible file format, but it is not as widely compatible with other programs.
RealAudio, or RA, files are audio files created by RealPlayer. RA files are playable by only RealNetworks’ RealPlayer media player or Web browsers with the RealPlayer plugin. The files cannot be downloaded to MP3 players, such as the iPod. If you have RealAudio files on your computer that you would like to download onto your iPod, you must first convert the RealPlayer audio files into an iPod-compatible format, such as MP3.
