Delete Music From a 4th Generation iPod Nano - Open the iTunes program.

Plug the 4th generation iPod Nano into your computer using the included USB cable for the iPod Nano. The Nano will the be listed on the left part of the iTunes software under "Devices."
Click the Nano name under "Devices" and tabs will become visible inside the center of iTunes at the top of the program.

Click the "Summary" tab. Syncing options for the Nano will be listed in the center of iTunes.



Enable the "Manually manage music and videos" setting for the Nano by clicking the box next to that setting in the center of iTunes.

The 4th generation iPod Nano is one of a variety of different versions of the Apple iPod portable music and media player. As with every iPod, the iPod Nano can only hold a certain amount of data at one time. You may have to delete some music files found on your iPod Nano in order to add new music or podcasts onto the Nano. Syncing your iPod Nano with the iTunes software will allow you to remove any and all music from your iPod Nano.
