Make Your iPod Louder

Make Your iPod Louder - Launch the Apple iTunes software. If you do not have it installed, download it for free from Apple's website (see Resources). Connect your iPod to your computer using its included USB cable. Plug the flat end into the bottom of the device and connect the standard-sized end into an open port on your Mac or PC.

Disable "Sound Check" in iTunes. Sound Check is a built-in Apple software feature on iTunes that limits volume levels. Click "iTunes" in the top iTunes menu bar on a Mac, or "Edit" in the top menu bar of iTunes on a Microsoft Windows PC. Select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu bar. Press the "Playback" icon and uncheck the box next to "Sound Check." Close the window.
Turn off volume limiting on your iPod. On an iPod Classic or Nano, press the "Menu" button on your iPod's click wheel. Scroll to "Settings." Click "Volume Limit." Turn the click wheel clockwise until the volume bar is full, maximizing your volume. Press the "Play" button to set the maximum volume. On an iPod Touch or iPhone, press "Settings" on your main screen. Tap "iPod" and select "Volume Limit." Slide your finger to the right to maximize the volume. Press your main "Menu" button to set.

Plug your headphones into your iPod and listen to your music. Adjust the volume to a setting that is comfortable. On an iPod Classic or Nano, turn the click wheel while listening to a song to make the volume higher or lower. On an iPod Shuffle, press the "+" or "-" button to adjust the noise levels. On an iPod Touch, press the volume buttons on the left-hand side of the device. On all devices used with an Apple headphone set with built-in remote, press the small remote built into the headphone wires.

Boost the volume with iPod compatible-speakers. Example products include the Bose SoundDock, the iHome and the Logitech Pure-Fi. These products give your iPod a full stereo sound. Slide your iPod into the system's built-in dock and use the speakers' remote pad or front display panel to make the volume louder.

The iPod is a digital music player designed by Apple. Its small size and wide range of abilities, including the capability on most models to play videos and display photos, has contributed to its popularity. You might want to turn the volume up on the iPod while watching videos or listening to music in a noisy environment, such as on an airplane. Learn how to make your iPod louder so you can enjoy it anywhere and anytime.
