Click "File" in the program's top menu bar.
Select "Add to Library." A new window will appear. Navigate to the AVI video file that you want to put on your iPod. Click it and push "Choose." The iTunes software will import it into the program's media library.
Click the video file as it appears in iTunes. Press "Advanced" in the top menu bar and choose "Convert Selection to iPod." The software will convert the AVI file into an iPod-compatible file to fit the device's small screen. This may take several minutes or several hours, according to Apple.
Connect the iPod to your computer using its included USB cable once the video conversion process is complete. The software will automatically sync with the device and put the video file onto the iPod.
