Reset an iPod for YouTube

Reset an iPod for YouTube - Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes. Right-click on your iPod in the "Devices" menu and select the "Backup Now" option. Wait while iTunes creates new backup of your iPod and its applications and settings.

Select the "Restore" button in the iPod screen within iTunes. The application may ask for the username and password of the computer's administrator account before starting the restore.
Unplug your iPod from your computer once the restore is complete. Turn on the iPod and it will display a screen that instructs you to reconnect it to the computer for a software installation. Some iPod versions do not require you to disconnect the device during this process.

Enter a name for your iPod when the software update is finished. Follow the steps in the iPod Setup Assistant to choose your syncing preferences for the iPod. Look at the iPod screen and select the language to use for the iPod's operating system.

Open the YouTube application on your iPod, connect to a WiFi network and verify that YouTube works again. Resync your music, applications and settings manually by selecting them in iTunes.

IPods do not support the flash video format that YouTube uses, but they can play YouTube videos through a special application. The YouTube application comes pre-installed and setup on new iPods. In the event of a software error, you can reset an iPod and restore the YouTube application. Even after reinstalling and restoring the YouTube application, an iPod user can only watch Flash videos from within the application.
