Connect your iPod to your computer via the USB cable.
Locate your iPod in the left column of the iTunes screen. It will appear a few seconds after you connect it to the computer.
Click your mouse on the iPod's name to bring up your iPod's home screen in the iTunes panel. Click on the summary tab in the main iTunes window to bring up your iPod information.
Click the "Restore" button in the main iTunes panel to begin the restore process. You will have four different restore options. Select the option that best suits your needs.
If your iPod fails to run properly, you may need to restore it to the factory settings. Restoring the iPod actually reinstalls the iPod device software, and corrects any software glitches that may negatively affect the way the device runs. You can restore your iPod in disk mode as well as when it is in its regular operating mode. If you have access to a computer with iTunes, you can restore your iPod in disk mode.
