Launch iTunes if it doesn't open automatically.
Open the "Store" menu on the iTunes menu bar.
Select "Turn Off Genius" from the drop-down list.
The Apple Genius feature allows iTunes and iPod users to create new playlists based on the stylistic choices and tonal qualities of other music in their libraries. Since your iPod's Genius function receives its information from your iTunes library Genius data, you have to turn off Genius in the iTunes program to disable it on the iPod. If you ever want to turn Genius back on, you can do so from the "Store" menu of iTunes.
