Use Audiobooks on a 4th Generation Nano

Use Audiobooks on a 4th Generation Nano - Download audiobooks into iTunes. Before you can transfer files to your iPod Nano, they must appear in your iTunes library. You can download audio books from the iTunes Store by clicking the "Store" link in the left column of iTunes and clicking the "Audiobooks" tab, or you can purchase them from audiobook websites or import audiobook CDs into iTunes. Just insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive and click "Import" in the lower right corner of your iTunes window.

Convert your files to Apple Audiobooks. If you downloaded your audiobooks from the iTunes Store, you can skip this step, but if you imported your audio books from other locations, Apple will typically recognize them as music files by default. Click the "Music" tab in the left column of iTunes, right-click your audiobook file(s) and select the option that reads "Get Info." Click "Options" and select "Audiobook" beside the "Media Kind" menu.
Connect your iPod Nano to your computer using the provided USB sync cable, and sync your audiobooks to your Nano. Click the "iPod Nano" icon in the left column and click "Sync" if iTunes does not sync automatically. If you have iTunes set up to sync manually, just click "Audiobooks" in the left column and drag your files onto the "iPod Nano" icon. Eject your Nano by clicking the "Eject" symbol beside the icon.

Click any button on your Nano to turn on the device. Once on, proceed to your main "Music" menu.

Scroll down to the "Audiobooks" option on your "Music" menu and press the center button to see a list of your Audiobook files. Use the wheel to select a file, and press the center button again to begin playing. To stop playing at any time, press the "Play/Pause" button. You can resume your Audiobook file, exactly where you left off, at any time.

The iPod Nano allows you to store and enjoy music, videos and other media on the go in a smaller package than the standard iPod models. Since the fourth-generation Nano comes equipped with 4-gigabyte or 8-gigabyte flash memory, you can enjoy even large audio files such as full-length audio books. By transferring audiobooks from your computer to your Nano, you can listen to your favorite works of literature while driving, jogging, working out or performing any other activity away from your computer.
