Change the Owner Settings on a Used iPod

Change the Owner Settings on a Used iPod - Plug the used iPod into the computer.

Open iTunes. When the program loads, the name of the used iPod appears under "Devices."
Click on the name of the used iPod. Tabs appear at the top of iTunes.

Select the "Settings" tab. The owner settings are in the middle of iTunes under the "Options" heading.

Click the boxes to the left of a particular setting to change that setting. For example, you can set the iPod so that the iTunes software automatically opens whenever you plug the device into a computer. Do this for every setting you wish to change.

Purchasing a used iPod from an acquaintance, store or online allows you to save money on the device. Unless the iPod was formatted before you obtained it, however, the previous owner's settings will be on the portable media player when you receive it. You might want to change these owner settings without formatting the used iPod, since formatting it will delete all the songs from the device. Fortunately, you can use iTunes to change owner settings in any iPod without formatting the player.
