Fix the iPod Docking Terminal



Fix the iPod Docking Terminal - Slide a coin into the slit on the back of your iPod Dock's remote control if this component is unresponsive. Turn the coin counterclockwise. Unlike most Apple accessories, the Dock’s remote control battery is not rechargeable, and it needs occasional replacement.

Lift out the old battery, insert a fresh CR2032 battery, and close the compartment.
Plug your iPod into your computer using a USB cable, and open iTunes.

Click on the iPod under the iTunes “Devices” heading, select the “Summary” tab and jot down the make and model of your iPod from this screen for comparison to the compatibility list at Apple’s support website.



Go to support.apple.com and type “Learn about Apple Universal Dock” into the blank field at the top right corner of the page to see the compatibility list. For many issues, an incompatible dock adapter is to blame, and you can purchase the correct model to remedy the issue.

Apple manufactures a universal iPod Dock that lets you hook a variety of iPod models into one convenient station, routed to either speakers or a television. In theory, a universal docking system means easier access for a range of consumers. In reality, some people have trouble getting their iPods to work with the iPod Dock. If your iPod doesn’t connect properly, or if it stops working unexpectedly, there a few common issues are usually to blame. For major hardware problems, you need to take in the docking terminal for maintenance, but basic issues are fixable right at home.
