Plug the dock connector end of the supplied dock connector to USB cable into the dock connector on your iPod Nano. The dock connector is located on the bottom of your iPod Nano.
Allow your iPod to charge for approximately three hours or until the battery indicator bar is full. Make sure your computer is turned on--although some Mac computers can charge your iPod Nano when the computer is sleeping. If you're charging your iPod Nano with a laptop, the laptop doesn't need to be plugged into the wall; although, plugging it in will not drain your laptop battery.
Plug the AC plug adapter of the Apple USB Power Adapter into an unused power outlet.
The iPod Nano has most of the functions of its larger and more expensive cousins--the iPod Touch and iPod Classic. The fifth-generation iPod Nano--the newest model available as of early 2010--can store up to 2,000 songs or eight hours of video on a 8GB model or 4,000 songs and 16 hours of video on a 16GB model. That much music and video won't do you any good if your iPod battery isn't charged, however. Fortunately, charging an iPod Nano battery is an easy process that can be done a couple of different ways.
