Insert the USB cable into the iPod Nano, and connect the other end of the cable to your computer's USB port.

Click "Start," "All Programs," "Apple" and "iTunes" on your PC, or click the "iTunes" icon on the dock of your Mac computer.

Like most electronic equipment, the third-generation iPod Nano can sometimes freeze up for no apparent reason and require a manual restart in order to restore functionality. While this may occasionally happen to your device, Apple recommends that you visit the Apple Store's Genius bar for iPod repair if the iPod freezes frequently. Depending on the source of the problem and your warranty, you may be eligible for a replacement iPod Nano.
