Connect your iPod 80GB to your computer using the interface cable provided with the device. One end of the cable plugs into the only port on your iPod device, and the other end plugs into a USB port on your computer.
Click the iTunes icon in the docking bar on a Mac computer to launch the program. On a Windows computer, go to "Start," "All Programs" and click on "iTunes" in the program list to open it. When iTunes opens, click "iPod" under the "Devices" heading in the left pane.
Go to the "Summary" tab in the iTunes window. Click the "Manually manage music and videos" option and then click "Apply."
Although some small iPods accept only audio files, most iPod portable devices designed by Apple accept audio and video files and have screens for video playback. How many music and video files you can store on your iPod depends on the size of the iPod, and if you have an iPod 80GB, you have a lot of digital space for storing your favorite media. Like any iPod, getting music and videos on your device requires hooking up to your computer and integrating with Apple's iTunes software.
