Restore a Locked iPod

Restore a Locked iPod - Move the "On/Off" switch back to the "Off" position.

Wait five to 10 seconds.
Move the "On/Off" switch back to the "On" position. A green stripe should be visible in this position. Your iPod will turn back on. If it does not, then you may have a different problem and need to refer to the Apple website for further instructions.

Turn the "Hold" switch to "Hold," then to "Off."

Press the "Center" button and the "Menu" button together. Hold them down for about six to eight seconds. Do this until the Apple logo comes on the screen.

The iPod, whether you have a shuffle, nano, classic or touch version, can store a lot of music and other entertainment in a compact unit. Occassionally, your iPod may lock up and need to be restored or reset. Each iPod model has its own restore instructions.
