Upload an MP3 to My iPod - Download the free iTunes software to the desktop of the computer (see Resources). Click the iTunes icon on the desktop to install the program onto the computer's hard drive. Restart the computer, if necessary.

Connect the iPod to the computer using its USB cable.
Launch the iTunes software, if it did not launch automatically when you connected the iPod to the computer.

Click the icon of the iPod that appears on the left side of the iTunes window.



Click the "Edit" option from the menu at the top of the iTunes window, and then select the "Preferences" option. Click the "General" tab and then click the "Import Settings" button. Choose "MP3 Encoder" from the "Import Using" drop-down menu. Click the "OK" button to close the "Import Settings" window, and then close the "Preferences" window.

Apple's iPod is a popular MP3 player for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that you can easily add MP3 files on an iPod using the iTunes software. You can upload (or transfer) an MP3 file to an iPod within minutes, no matter if you have a Macintosh or Windows-based computer.
