Before you can begin using your 30GB iPod Video, also known as the A1136 iPod, the iTunes software must be installed on your Macintosh running OS X v.10.3.9 or later, or Windows-based PC running Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2. According to the Apple 30GB iPod manual, although the iPod can be connected to your computer with a FireWire cable for recharging the battery, it won't transfer your audio and video files to the iPod. To transfer files, you must use the iPod USB cable.
