iPod Won't Sync With Windows Media Player

iPod Won't Sync With Windows Media Player - Enable the Disk Mode option on the iPod. This causes the computer to read the player as a hard drive and not an iPod. Connect the player to the computer, and then open the iTunes program. The iPod becomes listed under "Devices," found in the left part of iTunes. Click the iPod listing, then click "Summary." Click the box found next to either the "Enable Disk Use" or the "Manually Manage Music and Videos" selection (both enable the iPod's Disk Use mode). Click "Apply," and the setting is changed. Disk Mode is not an option on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Close (don't just minimize) the iTunes program if it's currently running. The iPod won't properly sync with Windows Media Player if iTunes is also open.
Use a different USB cord when attempting to sync the iPod with Windows Media Player. A bad USB cord keeps the computer from reading the device, which also prevents Windows Media Player from syncing with the iPod.

Reset the iPod. Doing so can fix several issues, including problems you're experiencing syncing the device with Windows Media Player. The method for resetting the iPod varies per model (see References).

Download and install the MGTEK dopisp application. This program, which comes with a 30-day free trail, makes an iPod compatible with Windows Media Player. Restart the computer after the application is installed, then attempt to sync the player with Windows Media Player.

Apple iPods are designed to automatically sync with the iTunes software on a Windows computer. These players are not compatible with other software programs, such as Windows Media Player. This does not mean that iTunes is your only choice for syncing an iPod with your computer. There are several methods you can use to sync iPods with the Windows Media Player software, such as changing the way the computer reads the iPod or installing a special application.
