Reset Your iPod 3G

Reset Your iPod 3G - Turn the Hold switch on top of your iPod on, and then turn it back off.

Press the "Play" and "Menu" button simultaneously. Hold the buttons down for about eight seconds, until the Apple logo displays. This resets the iPod 3G.
Repeat the procedure with the iPod connected to your computer or to its power adapter, if the procedure does not initially work.

From time to time, your iPod 3G may become inoperative or frozen. A number of factors could cause this, but the problem is likely a temporary glitch. When the iPod 3G is frozen, you can reset it. The resetting process powers your iPod 3G off, and then back on. If you have an iPod Nano 3G, the process is slightly different than in the iPod 3G. See the Tips section before beginning, if you have an iPod Nano 3G.
