Put Games on a First Generation iPod Touch

Put Games on a First Generation iPod Touch - Plug the first-generation iPod Touch into the computer using the iPod Touch USB cord.

Open iTunes.
Click the iPod Touch name on the left side of iTunes. A variety of category tabs will open inside the center of the iTunes window.

Click the "Summary" tab and "Check for Update." An alert window will appear.

Log in to your iTunes account through the alert window and click "Update." The latest software update will be installed on the first generation iPod Touch. If you have never updated the device before, the card or Paypal account linked with your iTunes account will be charged $10. This update is necessary for putting any games on a first-generation iPod Touch. Keep the iPod Touch plugged in after the update has successfully been installed.

Unlike updated versions, the first generation of the iPod Touch does not come with an "App Store" button. Also, it is not possible to transfer downloaded games (called "Apps") from your iTunes library to a first-generation iPod Touch until you have installed a necessary software update onto the player. This update is installed via iTunes.
