Reinstall a Software Update on an iPod Touch

Reinstall a Software Update on an iPod Touch - Connect your iPod Touch to your computer via the iPod's USB link cable.

Open iTunes. iTunes is Apple's iPod management software and is currently the only program for Windows that you can use to sync your iPod Touch.
Click on the name of your iPod Touch under the "Devices" menu. It is located on the left side of the main iTunes window.

Click the "Restore" button. This button is located underneath the name of your iPod Touch in the main iTunes settings window that has appeared.

Read over the list of options you are presented with. There are four ways to restore your iPod. Select the option that reads "Use Same Version." This option will uninstall your iPod Touch's operating system and reinstall the same version currently found on the device.

Occasionally, Apple will release software updates for the iPod Touch's main operating system. These software updates often fix any bugs or other problems known with previous versions as well as add new features to the overall package. If you update the software on your iPod Touch only to find it begins to give you problems, simply reinstalling the software update will often take care of the mess. Doing so only requires a few minutes of your time.
