Reset the Lock Code on an iPod

Reset the Lock Code on an iPod - Connect the iPod to a computer via USB cable or dock. If the computer has never been synced with the iPod, iTunes will erase all personal data and music.

Launch iTunes; update the program if prompted.
Click your iPod from the "Devices" list in the left pane of the iTunes screen, and click "Restore" when the option appears. Enter your name and password, if requested. If prompted, create a back up of the iPod.

Choose one of your previous backups, once iTunes has restored your iPod to factory settings. You can leave your iPod with factory settings, if you prefer, by selecting "Set Up As New."

Disconnect the iPod after restoration is complete. Press to open "Settings," choose "General" and press "Passcode." Type in a new passcode and retype the code at the prompt.

Apple's touch screen music player, the iPod touch, includes a lock-code feature. This utility, which Apple calls the passcode, allows you to specify a password. When you bring the device out of lock mode or turn it on, the iPod touch requires the passcode. Repeated failed attempts to enter the code result in a disabled iPod, and you must reset the lock code to access the iPod.
