Connect the iPod to your PC or Mac using the USB cord. Select "Yes" when the pop up asks if you would like to sync iPod and iTunes. This process will take a moment. When it says "Sync Complete," you now have all your tunes on your iPod and on iTunes.
Go to File>Library>Back Up to Disc. Select your settings and "Next." Insert blank media and click "Back Up." iTunes will compress all the information until the disc is full and will ask for subsequent discs until all the information is burned.

To save iPod songs as playable files, insert a blank disc with iTunes open. It will ask if you want to burn a disc; select "Yes." Select a playlist with all your songs on it and all boxes checked. Click "Burn," and choose the format and the number of seconds you want between tracks. iTunes will fit as many songs as possible onto a disc and ask for another.
