Turn Off a Third Generation iPod



Turn Off a Third Generation iPod - Locate the "Play/Pause" button on the front of the third generation iPod. The "Play/Pause" button is the third button from the left in the top row of buttons, and has a ">||" symbol on it.

Push and hold the "Play/Pause" button until the LCD screen turns off. Pressing and releasing the button quickly does not turn off the iPod.
Press any of the iPod's buttons to turn the device on again.





Apple launched the iTunes Music Store and the third generation of the iPod on April 28, 2003. The third generation iPod featured a different control scheme than the previous versions of the portable music player, but newer versions of the iPod no longer use the same controls. Therefore, the procedure for turning off a third generation iPod is different than any other generation of the device.
