Unbrick an iPod



Unbrick an iPod - Press and hold the "Power" button on your iPod and attempt to turn the device off. Normally, with a bricked iPod, you cannot turn the device off.

Reset the iPod. Press and simultaneously hold the "Power" button and the "Sleep/Wake" button on your iPod. Hold both buttons for 15 seconds. If the device turns off, you have successfully unbricked your iPod and your device should function normally after you power it back on. If the iPod is still frozen, proceed to Step 3.
Attach the data cable to the bottom of your iPod device and connect the other end of the data cable to an available USB port on your computer.

Open the iTunes program on your computer.



Restore your iPod. Press and simultaneously hold the "Power" button and the "Sleep/Wake" button on your iPod for approximately one minute, or until your iPod device appears under the list of devices on the left-hand side of the iTunes window.

iPods are line of personal media players sold and marketed by Apple Inc. At times, your iPod can freeze, or "brick," meaning the device will not function. To unbrick your iPod, you will need to reset or restore the device using the iTunes program on your computer.
