Dispose of iPods

Dispose of iPods - Recycle it. Apple has a recycling program for its computers, iPods and mobile phones. The company offers free and environmentally responsible disposal of your iPod via mail or by drop-off at its retail stores. Bringing it to a store earns you 10% off the purchase of a new iPod, and the company website features a link to help you locate a store near you. Should you choose to mail it in, you must either fill out the Apple Recycling Program form and print out the prepaid shipping label from the Apple website, or request a prepaid mailer. The 10% discount only applies at retail stores.

Sell it. Research selling options on sites like TuneCycle.com and BuyMyTronics.com, both of which offer cash for used and broken iPods. Both sites offer estimates of what your iPod is worth before you sell it. Also look into selling it on eBay, a popular online marketplace for buyers in search of used electronics.
Donate it. Recycling For Charities is a nonprofit that accepts iPods and other electronic donations and allows you to choose a charity to receive the donation. Also check with other organizations that accept electronic donations, such as Goodwill and The Wireless Foundation.

You might be finished with your current iPod because you want to upgrade to a newer model, your warranty has expired or it doesn't work properly any more. Instead of tossing it in the trash, try one of several responsible ways of disposing of your iPod, such as recycling or donating it. You might also consider selling the device, as there are a couple of companies that pay cash for electronics, even those that are broken.
