Click on the Music tab. If you want to download the entire contents of your music library, click the Sync Music box, then click the radio button that says "Entire music library." Click the "Synchronize" button that appears at the bottom of your screen. The synchronization can take several minutes, depending on the size of your music library.
Download selected parts of your library by clicking the button that says "Selected playlists, artists and genres." A window will open showing menus with those options. Click the box next to each playlist, artist or genre you want to download, then hit the "Synchronize" button and wait for the synchronization to complete.
Bypass the synchronization option to download individual songs. Click the Summary tab at the top of the iPod window, then scroll down to Options and click "Manually manage music and videos." A dialogue box will appear asking if you are sure you want to do this. Click "OK."
Apple first introduced the iPod in 2001; the Shuffle came along in 2005. It is the least expensive and most basic of all the iPod models with 2 GB of space, enough for hundreds of songs. The device has a button that allows you to choose whether to hear the songs in order or randomly. You need a computer with iTunes installed to load music to a Shuffle. The iTunes program is free from Apple and there are versions for Mac OS and Windows.
