Personal audio devices such as the iPod allow users to customize their music listening experiences according to their individual tastes. With Apple's iTunes, you can arrange your music into any sort of playlist you desire. One consequence of combining music from different sources, however, is that the volume level of individual MP3 files may vary greatly, meaning that you need to constantly adjust the volume level on your iPod. iTunes includes a setting that automatically adjusts the volume level of all of your songs to keep it uniform.
