Reset an iPod 5G

Reset an iPod 5G - Turn the "Hold" switch on your iPod on and off.

Hold down the "Menu" and "Select" buttons on your iPod simultaneously.
Continue holding down both buttons until the screen turns off and on. When an Apple logo appears on your screen, you have finished the reset process. This should take between six to eight seconds.

Through regular use, the 5G iPod can occasionally run into technical problems. If your iPod refuses to play songs or freezes, it likely needs to be reset. Like with a computer, a hard reset shuts down the iPod and starts it back up, which solves most problems. To reset your 5G iPod, you just need to press a simple combination of buttons.
