Click the icon for your device.
Click "Summary" in the right pane of the window if it is not already active.
Click the "Restore" button to begin the device restoration process. ITunes displays a message asking if you want to save the contents of the device to your computer before restoring it. If you have not backed up the device already, click the "Back Up" button. If you have already done this, click "Don't Back Up."
Sometimes you may feel as though you store your entire life on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Depending on your usage of the device, you may use it to store pictures, movies, music and games. All of these consume space on the device, and some applications may interact with each other in unexpected ways. If a rogue program has caused your device to crash -- or you simply want to remove all of the data in the quickest way possible -- use iTunes to restore the original default settings.
