Launch the DiskAid syncing program by selecting its icon from the "Start," "All Applications" pop-up menu (Windows) or by double-clicking its icon inside the "Applications" folder (OS X).
Click once on the icon of the iPhone or iPod that is in the left column of the program's main screen. Click once on the "Music," "Video" or "Photo" folder that is to the right of the iPhone or iPod's icon. Drag a music, video or photo file from the computer's hard drive into the column to the right of the "Music," "Video" or "Photo" folder. The file is now copied to the iPhone or iPod.
Quit the DiskAid program. Unmount the iPhone or iPod by right-clicking its icon and selecting "Eject" from the pop-up menu (Windows) or by dragging the iPhone or iPod's icon to the Trash (OS X). Remove the iPod cable from the iPhone or iPod and from the computer's USB port.
Apple's iPhones and iPods share the common need to sync with a computer to load data (like music and video) stored on a hard drive. Syncing an iPhone or iPod is typically done with the iTunes program, which has built-in limitations designed by Apple. Sync an iPhone or iPod using a non-Apple created syncing program. There are a number of syncing programs available, with the majority of them free or free to use on a trial basis. All the syncing programs allow the transfer of files from the computer to the iPhone or iPod. This does not void any Apple warranties that might be in place.
