Sync My iPod to iTunes Without Erasing Music

Sync My iPod to iTunes Without Erasing Music - Open iTunes.

Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable provided and wait for the iPod's icon to appear in the iTunes window. If your iPod then starts to synchronize with iTunes automatically, cancel this immediately by clicking the "X," which is surrounded by a small circle in the information bar at the top of the iTunes window. This is the information bar which shows the Apple logo when nothing is happening in iTunes, or shows a song's details when it is playing or paused.
Click on the iPod's icon to open its "Summary" window. A window may appear prompting you to sync the iPod. Exit this window with a great deal of care, ensuring that you do not choose to sync your iPod--otherwise all files on it will be deleted.

Select the "Manually manage music and videos" option in the "Summary" window, ensuring that it is the only option which is selected.

Click "Apply." Now you can manually synchronize your iTunes files with your iPod without deleting anything.

iTunes is Apple's media library, which can be accessed from home or on the move. Once your iTunes library is up to date, it's time to transfer or "sync" your media files to your iPod. There are various ways to sync iTunes to your iPod, but manually managing your music helps to avoid your iPod's current contents from being erased during the process.
