Unlock Your iPod When You Forget Your Password - Launch the iTunes program on your computer and click "Help" on the main menu. Scroll down and click "Check for updates." Close iTunes.

Connect your iPod to the computer using the supplied USB cable. Launch iTunes, which will display your iPod on the left panel.
Right-click your iPod in the iTunes program and click "Eject." Close iTunes and detach your player from the computer to unlock it.

Connect your player to the computer and launch iTunes. Click your iPod on the left panel and click the "Summary" tab. Click "Restore."



Click "Backup" to save your current settings and select the restore option you want to use. Select Option 3 or 4 if you want to install the newest iPod software.

The iPod lock is a four-digit code that prevents unauthorized users from changing settings and configurations on your device. When your iPod is locked, it does not display contents onscreen and is unusable until your enter the code. If you have forgotten your code, you can unlock your iPod in one of two ways--by connecting it to the computer you used to set it up or restoring the iPod's default factory settings.
