Plug the used iPod in to your computer. The name of the iPod will then show up on the left side of the iTunes program under the "Devices" heading.
Click on the name of the iPod. Then, click the "Settings" tab located at the top of the program.
Click "Restore." A confirmation box will appear. Click "Restore" in this box. This will remove all of the information found on the used iPod. Once it finishes, the word "IPOD" should appear under the "Devices" heading. If it doesn't, close iTunes and then restart the program.
Purchasing a used iPod can save you a good amount of money. However, not every person selling a used iPod will clear the data from the device before it is sold. While this can be somewhat inconvenient, it is a problem that is easily remedied. The software program iTunes allows you to remove all songs and information from a used iPod. Once you do this, you will be able to change the information on the used iPod.
