Open the iTunes software.
Plug the iPod into one of the USB connections located on the new laptop. The iTunes program that is on your computer will recognize the iPod and the program will list your iPod in the "Devices" category. If the iPod has been synced on a computer in the past, a window will open. Otherwise, you can skip to step 5.
Close the open window by selecting "No" or clicking the "X" in that window.
Using your iPod on a new laptop will allow you to manage all of the content on that iPod using the new laptop. Before you can sync the iPod with your new laptop, however, you will first need to install the necessary Apple media software on the laptop. You must then change the settings on the iPod using the installed software program. Doing so will give you the option of using the iPod on the new laptop or any other computer.
