Recharge an iPod that is still not responding. According to Apple, an iPod with a depleted battery may be connected to a computer for 30 minutes before it has charged enough for the computer to recognize it.
Reset the iPod if still not responding. For most iPods, this is simply a matter of toggling the Hold switch to the Hold position and back, then pressing both the center (Select) button and the Menu (upper part of wheel) for up to 10 seconds.

Repeat if still no response. Place the iPod on a flat surface to ensure Select and Menu buttons are being simultaneously depressed.

Contact Apple for repair information if there is still no response.
