Unlock an iPod That's Stuck

Unlock an iPod That's Stuck - Put the "Hold" switch in the off position. This is one reason an iPod may seem frozen when it is actually not.

Plug the iPod into a power source or into a computer. This is a form of resetting the iPod, and many times it will unfreeze it.
Toggle the "Hold" switch from off to on and back to off. Press and hold the "Play/Pause" and "Menu" buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the screen. It should appear after six to eight seconds. This is known as a soft reset.

Press and hold the "Select" and "Menu" buttons at the same time. This is another form of a soft reset.

Take the iPod to an Apple store or call technical support if none of these operations solves the problem.

There's often a simple remedy the user can perform to unfreeze a stuck iPod, or reset it completely. Try one before bringing the iPod to an Apple store or repair specialist, or before calling technical support.
