Add Music to an iPod Without Using Sync

Add Music to an iPod Without Using Sync - Connect your iPod to its connector cable and plug the connector cable into the proper port on your computer.

Open iTunes and make sure your iPod is turned on. When iTunes begins to automatically sync your content, cancel the process.
Click your iPod's icon in the left side of iTunes and press the "Summary" tab at the top of the screen.

Click the "Manually Manage Music and Videos" box so a check mark appears. You may need to scroll down in the window to see this option. Press "OK" when prompted by the "Disabling Automatic Update ... " pop-up box.

Press the "Apply" button in the lower-right corner of the screen and wait for your iPod to switch from "automatic" to "manual" mode.

Apple iPods are set to automatically sync with iTunes when connected; however, this may become a problem when you do not want all iTunes music synced every time you connect it to your computer. You can disable the auto-sync feature by setting your iPod to "manually manage" content, enabling your iPod to act as its own disc or storage drive, and giving you more control over how music and other media are added. This functionality is especially useful if you're using an iPod on multiple computers.
