Use a USB cable to plug the iPod you want to manually manage to a USB connection on your computer.
Click the iPod listed in the category labeled “Devices” on the left side of iTunes.
Choose the tab named “Summary” at the top of iTunes.
Depending on the settings of your iPod, the iTunes software on your computer may automatically transfer music onto the device each time you sync the iPod with iTunes. This can be avoided by changing the settings of your iPod so you can manually manage the files that are on the device. Being able to manually manage music on your iPod will also give you the option of syncing the iPod with other computers without the music on the iPod being automatically deleted.
