Connect to Secure WiFi Connection With iPod

Connect to Secure WiFi Connection With iPod - Press the "Home" button on your iPod Touch. The "Home" button is the circular button located below your iPod Touch's screen in the center of the device. Slide your finger across the bottom the screen, where indicated, to unlock your iPod Touch.

Press the "Settings" icon and then select the "Wi-Fi" option, which will be the first option listed. Make sure Wi-Fi is "On." If the Wi'Fi is currently off, tap the "Off" to turn the Wi-Fi feature on.
Slide the button next to "Ask to Join Networks" to the "On" position. Your iPod Touch will now detect all wireless networks within range of the device.

Find the secure wireless network you want to join, and select the network by tapping on the network's name. You will know that the network is secure, if there is a padlock displayed to the right of the network's name. Enter the password for the network you have selected. If you have entered the correct password and the security protocol matches, you will see a check mark next to the network indicating that you have successfully connected to the secure network. Most of the time, this is all you will need to do to connect to a secure network. If you do not see the check mark and you are sure that you entered the correct password, continue to Step 5.

Select the option labeled "Other." Enter the name of the network you want to join by manually entering the text in the "Name" field. Select "Security," and then select the type of security protocol used by the wireless network you want to join. Return to the previous screen by pressing the "Other Network" button in the upper left hand corner of your iPod Touch's screen. Enter the password for the network manually in the "Password" field. Press the "Join" button located in the lower-right-hand corner of your device's screen. You will now see the network listed with a check mark indicating that you have successfully connected to the secure wireless network.

It is possible for an iPod Touch to be connected to a secure Wi-Fi connection. Secure networks have passwords, though, so you must know the password and the network's name to successfully connect your iPod Touch to the secure wireless network. There are also several security protocols that are currently used when setting up secure Wi-Fi networks. These protocols are WEP, WPA, WPA2, WAP Enterprise, and WPA2 Enterprise. If your iPod is unable to determine the protocol that is being used on the secure network, you must also know the type of protocol used to set up the network.
