Plug your used 1GB iPod Nano into your computer using the long white Apple USB cable. If your used iPod Nano didn't come with an Apple USB cable, you can purchase one at any electronics retailer that sells iPods or at an Apple store.
Open iTunes. You will get a message saying that your used 1GB iPod Nano is currently synced to another iTunes media library on another computer. Click "Yes" when asked if you'd like to format your used 1GB iPod Nano and sync it with your current iTunes media library.
Drag any files you want to sync to your iPod Nano into the "iPod Nano Playlist" on the left side of iTunes.
If you have a used 1GB iPod Nano in your possession, it may still have content from the previous owner contained on its hard drive. If this is the case, you must download iTunes and sync your own content to the device if you want to use your new toy to listen to any of your favorite songs. As iTunes is a free download and you presumably already have a computer, this won't take that long and also won't cost anything.
