Free Up Memory on an iPod Nano

Free Up Memory on an iPod Nano - Open the iTunes software on your computer.

Connect your iPod Nano to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Your iPod will show up in the device list, which will be located on the left side of iTunes.
Select "Music" under your iPod in the device list by clicking on it with your computer mouse. This will bring up all of the music stored on your iPod.

Click on the song you want to remove from your iPod. If you're using a Mac, press the Delete key. If you're using a PC, press the Backspace key.

Click on "Remove" on the window that pops up to ask you if you want to remove the song from your iPod.

Even with its small stature---3.6 inches long, 1.5 inches wide and .24 inches deep---the iPod Nano can store a rather extensive collection of music and movies: as of 2009, the Nano is available in 8-GB and 16-GB models, which can hold up to 2,000 songs or 8 hours of video and 4,000 songs or 16 hours of video, respectively. Despite that large capacity, it may not be enough to hold your entire collection. Fortunately, by deleting music and videos from your Nano, you can free up memory to add new content.
