Apple designed the 5th generation iPod nano with a reset function that allows you to shut down and restart the device. Like many electronic devices, the iPod nano may experience errors that cause the device to stop operating as it should, such as the buttons not responding when you press them or the screen freezing during playback. Resetting the nano clears the errors that caused the problems.
