Sync an iPod on Windows Vista

Sync an iPod on Windows Vista - Start Windows Vista. You do not need to have administrative privileges in order to sync your iPod, only access to the Shared Folder on the computer (by default, every account has access to the Shared Folder).

Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable provided. If your iPod has not already been recognized as a system device, recognition will occur at this time (requiring the installation of drivers and software components that are needed in order to recognize your iPod).
Place music files you wish to sync to your iPod in the Shared Folder. You may also place your music in a dedicated folder within the Shared Folder (for example, a "My Music" folder).

Open the Sync Center by clicking on the "Start" menu followed by "All Programs," "Accessories" and then "Sync Center."

Set up a schedule for your iPod to be synced to, or simply choose "Sync" from the File menu to begin a manual sync. This will automatically update your iPod with the latest music from the Shared Folder.

Windows Vista takes home entertainment to the next level, offering a wide range of features and services that make everything from watching movies to listening to music a snap. MP3 players like the Apple iPod have made it even easier to listen to our favorite music, and with online services like Apple iTunes or Windows Media Player's Urge we can now find and buy the songs and albums we want. Windows Vista also makes it possible to sync our iPod to our computer so we have our music library in two places.
