Select the option to "Show hidden files and folders" if it is not already selected and uncheck the option to "hide extensions for known file types." Uncheck the option to "Hide protected operating system files," then click "Apply" and "OK." You have just made it so the hidden music and playlist folders will be visible.
Connect the iPod you wish to transfer music from to your computer using an iPod USB cable. Doing this should open up a window on your computer with a list of AutoPlay options. Select the "Open folder to view files" option.
Double-click the "iPod_Control" folder then the "Music" folder. In the Music folder, you will see a list of folders with coded names like "F02." These folders are the music items on your iPod.
Did you ever like a song or a playlist on a friend's iPod and wish you could have it on your own? Well, you can, and it's a relatively easy process. The method taught in this article is also useful for making a backup library of the music and playlists on your own iPod--if your iPod gets broken, you can easily restore the music to it when it gets fixed or to a new iPod.
